Hau Thao Commune

Hau Thao commune is in Muong Hoa Valley , located by th left bank of the stream Muong Hoa , where is parallel to car road of Nam Cang town , It is bounded by Sapa commune in the north , by Ta Van , Su Pan commune in the South , by Ta Phoi commune , Lao Cai town in the east by Lao Chai commune  and the north of Ta Van commune  in the west , The centre of Hau Thao commune is 7 km away from centre of Sapa Town. For ethnic Mong compatriots , there were two ways explaining the meaning of appellation of Hau Thao commune , Hau Thao is the name of prestigious  village patriarch in central village of commune . Hau Thao indicates two family Thao and Hau who founded together this village .

In habitant area , many large rocks , flagstone with many large edges are rised, On the surface including 159 carved ones which describe images of terraced fields , millstones , human,.. In 1925 , a Frech archeogist Goloubev came here and made research and introduction on scientific magazines . Many VietNam experts also came here to study but have not found out its date so far .

Travel to Sapa Discovering O Qui Ho mountain pass

O Quy Ho mountain pass road is ranked first in the "Four Great Peak Pass" of Vietnam. It is also known as Pass or Pass Hoang Lien Hoang Lien Son (Pass pass by Hoang Lien Son mountain range) or Pass May (due to year-round throughout the Pass clouds)

Legend has it that in this mountainous region, before or present a cry birds skin away, fitted with the legendary love story of a couple. Since then, from time to time the cry of a bird box provided lakes that has been set to a name for the wild mountain pass at an altitude of 2000m near this.

O Quy Ho Pass has long zigzagging mountain path Pass on Highway 4D in which two thirds of the way in the territory of interest on Chau Tam Duong; 1 3 remaining portion is located in the Lao Cai Sapa. This is probably a record for the pass length in the mountains of northwestern Vietnam.

With a length of nearly 50km longer than the Pha Din Pass (32km long) or Khau Pha Pass (near 40km,). The height, the length of the rugged and O Quy Ho makes people both admire, just scared. Therefore it was named unorthodox as "King Pass Northwest "

Can Cau Market Bac Ha

From Lao Cai city, down the highway of 4 d, visitors will come to Phong Nien, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province. Continue down the provincial road 153, through the town of Bac Ha, travelers will come to Can Cau market session

Complex of Muong Vi caves and grottoes

Complex of Muong Vi grottoes and caves is located in a part of Muong  Vi commune and inclusive of various small grottes and caves . Until now , only 4 grottes and cave are discovered and have their own special attraction. 

Na Rin cave : this is a big cave having a lot of beautifull stalacites and different shapes spreading along stream , normally called Thuy Tien cave . Stalactites are silver white and transparent . There are also small and big stone stalactites sticking on the cave wall ,creating a splendid and magnificent setting. Deep into the cave , there are more strangle things . Long ranges of stone are linked with cave floor by big stone pillars which will emit sounds like drum-beat. In the core of the cave is stream where is home for various kinds of fish . Nearly to the end of the cave , there is a patch folding stalactites falling free as huge monk's Rock.

Cam Rang cave : is located at the half way down the mountain . Stalactites in the cave are dark brown and solid due to a shortage of stream. Going inside stalactites have a shape of a long Calabash with a tray of yellow five fruits that look very delectable. At the upper heaven gate , there is trip of noble  stalactites like a crown with  luxurious and sophisticated door curtains.

Cam Rum grotto : is also call "wind cave"  because there is always a strong gust of wind blowing inside out . Cam Rum grotto has a lot of sensational legends and strange stalactites . Just stepping through the cave mouth , we will surprised at charming natural scenery here. Stalactites make up small and thin edges . Some other twist to each  other, creating lumpy shell like snail, dragon or stair field ... and many other is particularly interesting .

Cam Tam grotto : Cam Tam means " Low cave " . It is divided into 2  separate floor . At the cave mouth area , there is a pyramid 3m-high hexagonal quartz pillars . This grotto has few stalactites but special supernatural power connecting with a legend about hard-working good-natured fairies who were very helpful especially to the local people of farming tools like plough,  pickaxe,rake,buffalo,cow,pig and chicken which were gifted by fairies . 

Complex of Muong Vi cave and grottoes is of large scale, beauty and popular factors , reflecting  spiritual cultural life of the Giay ethnic community. Also thank to these factors , the complex of Muong Vi cave and grottoes was recognized a national charming vestige by Ministry of Culture and Information  in 1999. 

Muong Hum mountain city

45 km in the Norhwest o Lao cai city , passing over the complex of Muong Vi caves and grottoes anh Xeo village , you will see a range of imposing mountains surrounded by clouds . That hill crossing road will lead you Muong Hum mountain city .

Although a modern life  has brought new gusts of wind to Muong Hum mountain city but still maintains traditional lifestyle , custom of recieving guests and religous cultural life . Traveler will be warmed welcomed and invited to have a familar meal and a cup of heart - warming wine . On Tet h

oliday, Roong Pooc festival, grave visiting festival , death pardon day or feast for good harvest , all families in Muong Hum mountain city often invites each to have a simple meal with salted vegetable, duck , pork or dry buffalo meal and beef cabbage.

Muong Hum market opens every sunday . That is a place of meeting exchancing and attaching relationship among different villages and people . To attend kermis , people in remote  regions go to th market on day prior to its opening and  gather in  inns . The elderly gathe in one place and talk about everything.

Old palace on white Plateau | Mèo's King Palace in Bac Ha

Over 80 years of existence , the old palace still stand imposing and outstanding in the centre of Bac Ha township .The owner of  Hoang A Tuong old palace is hereditary chief Hoang Yen Chao who is father of Hoang A Tuong and belong to Tay minority .

The old Place has very nice view. It is constucted according the science of winds and waters .The palace is located on a vast hill the southeast ,surrounded by mountains on the back and two sides , and stream and "mother carrying child" mountain in the front.

A harmonious combination between styles rectangle lay-out for the Hoang A Tuong old palace .Both left and right sides of the palace are used as storehouse anh for coolies to stay .The front is as screen and the back is main house . There are three rooms on each floor and an open ground in the center, to get into palace , you have to go in the waiting room at first, the to a big ground that is used to celebrate a ceremony and xoe dancing .The main house has two floors with an area of 420 sq.m,a very well proportioned arch door anh balcony outside the corridor .Two room on the right and two on the left of the house are for family life. The middle room is for meeting.The palace is well decorated in the modern architecture. The main side of the house is decorated with  a lot sophisticated vignettes and two parallel sentences with a content of wishing family prosperity . Total area of the house is up to 4000 sq.m and strictly protected by two teams of guards at the main gate and two supporting gates .At  the present , Hoang A Tuong palace si still being preserved , maintained and upgraded . It is very good palace for traveler to visit anh understand history , society and people in the Bac Ha mountainous region in the past . 

Nowaday ,  traveler can go to the Hoang A Tuong palace by motorbike or by bus 

From Lao Cai station tourist can catch the local bus go there about 4 hours , The price ticket is  about 7 Us Dollar / 1 way. A lot of bus stop is front of Station.
